DOHA: Division B organised a virtual training programme – Members Orientation – on 8 October for the Toastmasters community in Qatar, where three different educational modules were presented.
Doyen Toastmasters in Qatar Sonny Varghese, DTM enlightened the members all about the history and hierarchy of toastmasters. He took people down memory lane from the inception of the toastmasters’ movement in 1905.
Today Toastmasters International is a non-profit organisation with about 16,200 clubs in 145 countries with 36,200 members across the world.
Pavithra Philip donned different hats to explain the different roles toastmasters play in toastmasters meetings.
Every member gets to play a role in any meeting and thus toastmasters meetings provide opportunities for its members to master communication and leadership skills.
Pathways, the Toastmasters’ educational curriculum, was explained by Parul Srivastava. The programme offers about 11 paths through which members are able to develop competence in various fields like presentation mastery, innovative planning and effective coaching.
Srivastava also explained how a member could reach the status of ‘Distinguished Toastmaster’, the pinnacle of achievement in a toastmaster’s journey.
The programme was called to order by Area 8 Director Chandrashekhar Dudhe. Division B Director Riana Pinto, DTM welcomed all the members. TLI Chair Christopher Almeida, DTM introduced the presenters..
Timing was monitored by Area 7 Director TM Kumaran, while the vote of thanks was delivered by Assistant Division Director, Programme Quality, Anita Samanta, DTM. Alka Shukla, conducted the Q&A session.
