DOHA: The Indian Embassy has released details about Scholarship Programme for Diaspora Children.
India’s ministry of external affairs awards 150 scholarships yearly to children (studying in India) of PIOs/NRIs and Indian workers working in ECR countries, where the parents’ gross monthly income is not more than $4,000 per annum.
Under the scholarship schemes, the Indian government would bear 75 per cent of the total Institutional Economic Cost (IEC) subject to a maximum of $4,000, the embassy said in a statement.
Under the scheme, the institutions covered are NITs, IITs, schools of planning and architecture; ‘A’ Grade institutions accredited by NAAC and recognised by UGC; central universities of India and other institutions covered under the scheme.
Only first-year students shall be eligible to get the scholarship. All eligible candidates may apply for the scholarship accordingly under the Scholarship Programme for Diaspora Children scheme.
