DOHA: The Katara Cultural Village will launch on Sunday four stamps featuring drawings of children to mark World Children’s Day.
The stamps will contain four winning drawings of children chosen from among 572 entries submitted by 390 participants who took part in an art competition that Katara organised in cooperation with Qatar Post a few months ago.
This the second issue of stamps by Katara to document its most important and recent events. The first issue of stamps took place in May 2015 to commemorate the launch of Katara Arab Novel Award.
The drawing contest was organised as part of Katara children’s festival in November 2019 and entries were received until 30 April this year.
The winners of the first places, whose drawings were converted into stamps, are Najlaa Al Dirham (nine years, Qatar), Ilhem Boughanmi (11 years, France), Abdullah Yousef Al Mulla (13 years, Qatar), and Simra Shamshad (14 years, India).
The first six winners got awards of QR2,500 each while the first four winners got their drawings featured on postal stamps as well. Officials from Qatar Post will take part in the launch of the new four stamps.
